The stops of the Montjuïc Cable Car

3. Castell de Montjuïc Station – This is the last stop, right by Montjuïc Castle. From here you can visit the castle, enjoy spectacular views of the city and have a drink at the cozy little bar Caseta del Migdia.

Opening hours Montjuïc Cable Car

The Montjuïc Cable Car is open daily, but times vary by season. In the winter months (January, February, November and December), the cable car runs from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. In the spring and fall (March, April, May and October), it is open until 7:00 p.m., and in the summer months (June, July, August and September) it is even open until 9:00 p.m.

Please note that the Montjuïc Cable Car may be temporarily closed in bad weather, such as high winds. In addition, annual maintenance takes place between late January and mid-February, so the cable car is not available during that period.

How long does a ride on the Montjuïc Cable Car take?

A ride on the Montjuïc Cable Car takes about 10 to 15 minutes. This is the time you need to travel from the Parc de Montjuïc station all the way to Montjuïc Castle. Along the way, you can enjoy beautiful views of the city and the sea!

You can also use the hop-on-hop-off bus, which stops at Plaça d’Espanya, near the mountain. In addition, bus line 150 runs from Plaça d’Espanya and stops close to Montjuïc Castle. So you have multiple ways to reach this extraordinary cable car!

For a ride on the Montjuïc Cable Car, you need a separate ticket. It is convenient to buy your tickets online in advance to avoid long queues. Children up to 4 years old can ride for free!

Is the Montjuïc Cable Car worth it?

During our visit to Barcelona, we chose to take the Montjuïc Cable Car to the castle. From the moment we boarded, it felt like a little adventure. As the gondola went up, the views became more and more impressive. We could see the city, the sea and even the airport in the distance.

The ride itself was short but extraordinary. At the top of Montjuïc Castle, we enjoyed a panoramic view of Barcelona. The only downside? The cable car is not cheap, especially for a ride that only takes a few minutes. Still, we found it a unique experience and a nice way to climb the mountain. For us, it was definitely worth it!
